This was a complex large design incorporating a large amount of high speed elements, including USB3, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet & Mipi. A 24 channel high speed analogue input bus was also present along with high speed A to D converters. Stepper Motor drives were also onboard along with Switched Mode Power Supplies.
The PCB was a 12 layer impedance controlled stackup, with differential 90 /100 ohm and 50 ohm single ended signals, requiring impedance controlled matched delay routing.

The design / detailing of Environmental Chambers for component life testing.
Environmental Chambers expose test components to raised Temperatures (typically 150 deg. C), Low Temperatures (typically 0 deg. C), and humidity.
The chambers are constructed from stainless steel sheet, contained with a steel frame, with many sub-assemblies, some with fine tolerance machined moving parts. Obviously due to the operating temperatures involved materials selection was important, therefore the role also involved the specification and purchase of suitable materials, BOM generation and sub contract supplier interfacing. All mechanical assemblies and piece parts were Modelled and detailed using AutoCAD Inventor.
The role also involved the creation of wiring and or schematic diagrams for machine controls and instrument panels. Pneumatic systems were employed on some machines and, therefore, in those instances pneumatic circuits were produced as required. Control panel layouts and housing were also produced; detailing such items as terminal rails, front panel components etc. I was also solely responsible for all PCB layouts.

Reduced layer count was a mayor strategy of the design to minimize board cost, which made the layouts challenging, most designs were 6 layer but where possible this was reduced in some instances to 2 layer, where impedance control was not required.
All Designs completed using Altium Designer.
