Volunteer Education Leader
The Egypt Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
• Delivering the museum's educational activities to visiting school groups, and at weekend workshops and outreach events.
• Assisting the museum's Education Officer with logistical concerns relating to visiting school groups. This included problem-solving skills: compensating for misinformation delivered by schools (late arrivals, early departures, extra children, etc.), delivering health and safety information to the group, and establishing payment and lunch arrangements with visiting teachers.
• Filling in for the Education Officer in their absence, leading and managing a team of adult and young volunteers across three galleries.
• Assisting with volunteer management, including coordinating and training other Education Leaders, and working with/training the museum's Young Volunteers at the weekends.
• Supervising the museum galleries to ensure the safety of visitors and the collection.
Whilst at the Egypt Centre I was awarded the museum's Claire Edwards Award for Education Excellence, as well as the awards for Outstanding Education Volunteer, Most Proactive and Committed Student Volunteer, and the Outreach Award. I have also been Volunteer of the Month on two occasions.
