I'm offering
Hi, I’m Jess. I write copy, editorial and SEO content, proofread and sub-edit for clients.
I specialise in helping companies get their content to the top of the SERPS, whilst maintaining tone of voice. I’ve been at it for 11 years, three as a freelancer.
The last article I wrote was pretty niche, the best business security cameras for 2020. If you search ‘best business security camera’, it’s in the Google news snippet and position three on the SERPS. Pretty good so far, with my client getting lots of juicy traffic from a sought-after customer segment.
My recent clients include Visa UK (employee comms), Simply Business (copy/editorial/SEO content/proofreading), EY (financial education content/sub-editing), StrideUp (copy/content), Willis Towers Watson (copy), Enterprise Nation (editorial) and GoDaddy (editorial).
I’m experienced in financial services (FS) and regulatory writing, with a keen eye for compliance. From pensions and tax to banking, insurance and the startup community, I've written it.
**What I do**
- rebranding, building and nurturing tone of voice
- web copy refresh
- SEO copy/editorial
- customer comms
- eCRM copy
- award entry writing
- SMS copy
- branded blog editorial
- animation/video scripting
- ghost writing
- print comms (the list goes on)
**Where I learned**
Before a fast-developing career client-side at Simply Business, I cut my agency teeth at Dare and Willis Towers Watson, with a mix of FS, FMCG, independent, blue chip and technology sector experience. My agency clients have included ITV, B&Q, Sainsburys, Barclaycard, Barclays, Aviva, Sony, Diageo, BMW and the Post Office.
I have an A* / 2:1 education background, with prizes for achievement in English.
**Why I do it**
An ideal day for me is getting the brief from a despondent SEO/content team and delivering a bang-on-tone-of-voice piece that flies up the SERPS.
Creating, nurturing and refreshing evergreen content is second nature, and I love dropping by my clients, checking in on their aspirations for the quarter. I push all my content to work just as hard as their busy teams do.
I see the beauty in the detail, and the devil in the unconsidered. I live to proofread (it's a sickness, isn't it?), I know how to give/take thorough feedback, and I find real joy in a well-placed full stop.

Right.
now I write copy, editorial and SEO content, proofread and sub-edit for clients.
I specialise in helping companies get their content to the top of the SERPS,
whilst maintaining tone of voice. I've been at it for 11 years, three as a

To give you an idea, I've just finished an SEO optimisation job for Simply
Business. My brief was to optimise their Making Tax Digital article, timing it with the annual Self Assessment tax deadline, when tax-related searches
tend to surge.
We're currently at position 6 (Google SERPS) for making-tax-digital (just behind gov.uk). It's an extremely competitive search term, so we're
delighted with how quickly the article has climbed.
Other recent clients include Visa UK (employee comms), Simply Business
