1998 - 2005   job
Advertisement Manager Kingslea Press.
went into receivership .This was nothing to do with the performance of Disability Now and the London Office. I was
immediately employed by Scope, the Publishers of Disability Now to continue working as Advertisement Manager on the publication.
This was a challenging time, as I basically had to start again. I was not
allowed to take any records or information with me. I therefore had to build an advertising department from scratch. This involved setting up a
complete database of Display and Recruitment advertisers and assuring
my clients that it was " business as usual."

I set up a complete accounting procedure and office administration
system. Once this was in place I could then recruit a new sales executive and sales administrator.

The position involved all those tasks at Kingslea Press with the following
added responsibilities:

To contribute to the strategic development of Disability Now and the preparation of the management budget.

Oversee the preparation of advertising invoices and be responsible for
credit control.

It was through my endeavours that a major financial loss from the receivership was averted and Disability Now achieved profit.

Overall responsibility for the marketing department.
December 2001 My role was extended to include taking responsibility in the absence of the editor, for day-to-day business decision to ensure the financial
stability of the newspaper, maximise income revenue and meet business
targets. Produce regular reports and attend meetings as necessary.
Furthermore I was charged with increasing revenue via third party
contracts. The publication grew year on year with the achievement of the first 64-page issue and targets attained each year. In 2003 we launched
DNExtra a mid month supplement to cater for vacancies missed on being
a monthly. We also approached the subject of re launching from a tabloid to an A4. In 2004 we relauched the DN website and this established itself
as a major revenue source.
May 2005 On the retirement of the editor I have been given the responsibility for all
business financial and budgetary decisions, until the appointment of a new editor.
