Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme
Saïd Business School, University of Oxford:
The Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme provided a sound understanding of AI technology its history, functionality, and capability, as well as the challenges that are inherent in its methods. The programme also offers insight to develop a comprehensive opinion about the possibilities that AI holds, and reflect on its limitations and ethical, legal, and societal implications. Through exposure to empirical research and real-life case studies, I gained a comprehensive knowledge of the potential presented by AI. I identified potential opportunities and developed a business case about implementing AI within a Financial Service organisation as part of this course.

MuleSoft C4E Senior Technical Architect and Senior manager
HSBC.
My role was a lead data/integration domain solutions architect and an API evangelist moving HSBC into an era of API led development. I was the lead technical / solutions architect from Deloitte working with HSBC enterprise architecture team. I was responsible for building the architecture blueprint, target operating model (TOM), API governance, demand/service management and establishing a global competency center across UK/China/India. The projects adopting this platform were spread across global retail banking, risk & finance, global customer registry, big data and digital business areas. I lead the team of architects who defined the architecture for API led connectivity, data distribution blueprint for data ingestion into big data platform as well as pilot projects investigating open banking initiatives, blockchain, microservices architecture. The data governance approach was to align REST based resources in API development to HSBC business information model i.e. glossary and data dictionary so all APIs are aligned to enterprise definitions to promote standardisation, alignment to group data strategy.
Key Technical Highlights: I implemented a hybrid (i.e. part cloud part on-premise) API platform. The MuleSoft offering was implementation on both PCF and VM to support the needs of the various line of business (LOB). I performance engineered the platform to fully support the bank's development and production requirements. The platform was a full HA tier 0 and distributed across multiple data centers. I specifically evaluated the use of MuleSoft CloudHub and AWS cloud solutions to automate the provisioning of environments. A full DevOps approach with automated environment including CI/CD pipeline was developed using tools like Groovy, Jenkins, Stash/GitHub, Nexus, Mavern and Ansible Tower. I evaluated multiple container technologies like VMware virtualisation, Docker implemented in Kubernetes. I led the data /api governance approach and showcased it to development teams in India, Hong Kong and UK.

Enterprise Architect / Principal Architect
Direct Line Group.
I had multiple roles in the organisation, lead principal architect for personal lines business with over £3B gross written premium. I also led the pricing and rating workstream as solutions architect and lead architect for the Information architecture domain.
Business Architecture (Insurance Domain) / Solution Architecture related Activities:
• Functioned as lead architect for Actuarial Rating & Pricing, Predictive modelling, Underwriting, 3rd party data enrichments, Pricing Analytics and implementation of new real-time price optimization engine. Led the RFI/RFP for Pricing and Integration technologies as part of a 200+M transformation programme.
• Led the design for developing an offline risk based / actuarial price modelling, predictive modelling, pattern recognition using vast data sets and pricing scenario testing for the business teams.
• Led the solution designs to integrate PAS system to Web, CRM, Pricing engine, Customer master and warehousing platforms. I developed the functional component model, integration catalogue, and non-functional design for web and high volume aggregator channels. The solution was to build highly resilient, clustered architecture with high availability and zero loss of messages.
• Evaluated and created options paper for implementing web frameworks like AngularJS, traditional MVC patterns and the use of SOA/API led connectivity between the web client and web server side backend.
• Demonstrated expertise in mapping core insurance capabilities in Guidewire Suite v5 and v8 including Policy, Claims and Billing. Hosted solutions from SSP, Acturis and Majesco.
Integration Domain Architect - Technical Architecture Activities:
• Developed IT roadmap for the insurance business as it separated from RBS bank. I was the technical architect in the architecture work-stream shaping a 200+ million-pound transformation programme to provide a green field insurance suite and number of technical platforms like information hub (i.e. ESB/ETL using MuleSoft SOA Suite, Informatica PowerCenter and IBM DataPower), CRM, Data analytics, pricing and campaign management.
• I compared the offerings from AWS / Microsoft Azure and Mule Cloud Hub. I selected the various products to implement the information fabric, in this I evaluated RedHat Fuse, MuleSoft ESB, Informatica ETL, Webmethods, IBM message broker and Oracle service bus. I also evaluated the adoption of Redhat openshift as a docker container platform.
• The integration layer also supported the data ingestion and data consumption from a customer master (Single View) database as well as an enterprise data warehouse that hosted, claims history, analytics and semantic data layer required for fulfilling a multi channel quotes, pricing, CRM and marketing system needs.
