Solution Architect/Tech Design Lead
Leighton Corp.
Developed a proof of concept to asses road quality using an app on a mobile phone. Accelerometer and GPS data collected on the phone was forwarded for analysis by 4G or Wi-Fi. Data was analysed centrally and significant events such as potholes were mapped using the collected GPS location. Two analysis techniques were tested, one using a statistical approach, the other an AI (Artificial Intelligence) perceptron neural network. Training the neural net with a small data set (accuracy improves with a larger training set) yielded better accuracy than the statistical method. The AI concept also showed promise on low frequency time series data (outliers) which could be applied in the area of machine wear detection and ticketing.
Created a technical design to allow BA (British Airways) to detect unplanned ticket sales events thus allowing better alignment of ticket pricing and demand. Assigned this project at very short notice and complimented by BA on the seamless transition.
• Steered decision making process to select the best implementation platform.
• Collaborated with BA IT department to determine the most appropriate interfaces to existing systems.
• Designed performance evaluation tests where changes were made to time sensitive components.
• Collaborated with the BA data scientist to manage practical limitations that precluded his "in real-time" expectation and would offer a more attainable increase in profitability on BA ticket sales.
• Managed and reviewed technical input from BA and Leighton contributors.
• Revised and simplified the architecture to reduce risk and impact on existing systems.
• Achieved high level technical sign off of the design.
Produced a high level technical architecture for a more robust card payment infrastructure for BA. Created an architecture for a segregated corporate cloud store in AWS (Amazon Web Services) to ultimately support data analytics, but initially to capture and analyse card payment access logs to meet PCI (Payment Card Industry) guidelines.
Produced a proposal for heuristic detection of questionable access events on the BA payments network.
Created a requirements list and background tender documentation for BA to facilitate PCI compliance. Participated in the assessment of and scoring of tender responses.
Performed a detailed assessment of Leighton management information systems in partnership with a business analyst, with a brief to streamline internal resource allocation, project and financial reporting.
