job
Senior Cyber Project Manager
Micro Focus.
(Rolling contract)
Micro Focus is a FTSE 100 IT Company. I managed several technical security projects to integrate acquisitions including TAG, Serena and HPE Software. This was a complex environment consisting of a large number of R&D Software Development Labs and heterogeneous legacy infrastructure. Projects were defined and aligned to the NIST framework.
• Responsible for all aspects of the project. This included developing the business case and presenting it at ExCo. Building the project cost tracker and owning the financial management throughout (5% tolerance)
• Building the resource requirements and procuring external staff and infrastructure (often with global delivery)
• Responsible for stakeholder management including senior stakeholders (VP and CxO level)
• Technical ownership of the project often hands on with security architect and technical control designs
• Carried out Data Privacy Impact Assessments, worked to attain Works Council approvals and managed global communications plans.
• Working directly for CISO and VP of Security.
• Managing targeted and global communications
Key achievements, projects & business outcomes included:
• In 2016 completed the rationalisation of Micro Focus and TAG MPLS WANs to a new single vendor. Moved from a backhaul to a local internet breakout architecture and deployed NGFW with advanced threat protection features at each site. This included updating corporate information security policies. In 2018 led a WAN Strategy initiative to rationalise the HPE Software spin merger and Micro Focus networks. This concluded with running an SD WAN RfP.
• Consolidation of endpoint protection solutions (SEP, ESET, Trend Micro) to McAfee and the rollout of Carbon Black Defence. The environment was in excess of 25,000 endpoints and challenging due to the diverse S/W development labs.
• Rollout of 2FA infrastructure and introduction to external services, including go-live support and communication planning.
• Deployment of Fortinet and Palo Alto perimeter firewalls and development of standards for the configuration of ATP features - such as web and application filtering.
• ArcSight and Sentinel SIEM deployment and integration of numerous data sources.
• Through infrastructure deployment (SCCM, WSUS and SUSE Manager) and process change, successfully moved the organisation to a monthly patching cadence for servers and workstations. This was based on the development of a Patch Standard, with compliance reporting through SCCM and CMDB.
• Rolled out Fortinet NGFWs to provide internal network zoning of software development labs at circa 30 sites and deployed Fortimanager and integrated FWs with SIEM.
• Worked on both AWS deployment and migration of vulnerability scanning tools (xStorm, Rapid7, Qualys, OpenVAS) and the mitigation of vulnerabilities identified by these tools, with business and system owners.
• Rolled out security awareness training (SABA) and anti-phishing solution (KnowBe4) enterprise wide (20,000 users).
• Undertook a security tools review to define a programme of work to address identified gaps and retire redundant security tools.
