I'm offering
I am a .NET developer with over ten years of commercial experience. My language of choice is C# but I have switched between C# and VB.NET over the course of my career. I have developed solutions targeting various versions of the .NET framework using various incarnations of Visual Studio and SQL Server. I have a master's degree in software engineering from the University of Huddersfield. I have always been involved in all aspects of system development from scoping and analysis to testing and support. Above all, I take great pride in being a good problem solver. I am able to communicate at all levels using various channels. I feel that my strongest areas are analysis, high-level design and UI design. I try to develop software that is intuitive and easy to use and write code that is organised and as self-documenting as it can be. In addition to being a good all-round .NET developer my skills set includes ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, SQL, WCF, Dynamics CRM, Umbracco and so on. I have mostly worked within some flavour of an Agile/SCRUM environment.

We would typically follow an agile approach to systems development
Next Plc.
Sept 2011 - Nov 2015
I worked for Next developing systems for their warehousing and distribution division. We would typically follow an agile approach to systems development. This would involve the development of desktop applications, web applications, web reports and also RF (remote handset) applications for our warehouse operatives and delivery drivers. I was involved in all aspects of the development cycle and my position involved interacting with people at all levels from directors to ground level staff.
Many of the systems I developed were critical to the successful operation of the business. Testing was of upmost importance, from unit testing to user acceptance testing. The production of comprehensive documentation for support staff was also important for times when things do go wrong.
At Next I experienced systems development within a large, blue chip organisation. I learned a lot. I feel that there, I matured into an experienced developer capable of delivering robust, business critical systems that are used 24 hours a day supporting a world class, industry leading operation. Prior to a voluntary break in my employment, I left Next to re-join a different division of my former employer STROMA.

degree. I was initially recruited mainly to assist in a complete rewrite of a WinForms application. However, my ideas about how the high level design should take shape, the layout of its user interface and the HCI element quickly gave me the lead on this project.
The vast majority of the work that I carried out at Stroma was WinForms development in VB.NET or C# using Visual Studio 2008 or 2010 and SQL Server. We also experimented with WPF, iOS and Andriod development.
While working at Stroma I have had experience of all aspects of the software development cycle from requirements capture to deployment and maintenance. I have worked software used internally by our staff and externally by our clients and affiliates. I have engaged with clients of all levels during face-to-face meetings, conference calls, emails, etc.
