Junior Garment Technologist
THE FOLD.
The Fold is a premium womenswear brand that specialises in stylish work wear and fashionable clothing. I
work across tailoring, outerwear, woven and knitwear. I manage the knitwear department and oversee the development process from proto to QC. Working closely with the knitwear designer and suppliers to ensure
garment quality is aligned with our company standards. One of my accomplishments is developing a new
style called Mariner jumper. They sold 470 units across 2 colours £68,000 of sales. £50,000 profit low returns
return rates of 24% vs the average returns rate of 35%.
Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with the design team throughout the development and manufacturing
process.
Responsible for pattern and technical garment construction and development from initial design
handover to production approval.
Preparing fit sessions, taking fit comments and photos. Making suggestions on improving the quality and construction of garments.
Maintaining a customer-focused approach in understanding of fit and quality issues.
Working alongside in house pattern cutter to ensure the fit comments have been carried out
efficiently. Also working with them to ensure the patterns are ready for next stage of sampling and grading.
Working with a pattern company called Grade House, to carry out pattern amendments and grading.
Checking measurements have been correctly inputted in the specs.
Updating tech packs after fit session, with garment amendments and fabric, trims and other
components.
Liaising with suppliers to ensure that all samples are received in a timely fashion to meet deadline
dates to ensure that all fit and quality standards are maintained and improved.
Ensuring that sampling comments are issued to, received by, and understood by suppliers.
Answering any questions from suppliers related to the product whilst it is being manufactured.
