Lead Program Management Analyst - Prototype Launch - Global Ford Transit Program

- Product Development.
A senior member of the program management team leading the launch and development of the most successful commercial vehicle in the world. Responsibilities included;
Program Control - European Operations. Prototype Launch Lead Analyst.
• Operating within the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) framework, responsible for managing the prototype build work stream of new model programs for all European Ford Transit programs, across multiple variants in development centres and manufacturing plants in Germany and Turkey.
• Responsible for ensuring all vehicles are delivered to test customers via the Fit4Test processes against a tight build plan and strict program timing.
• Working in an Agile project environment, able to identify and progress all build issues, identify risks to the program, and work with multi skilled engineering teams, including body engineering, interior, chassis, powertrain, and electrical; alongside Tier1 suppliers such as Yazaki, Delphi, Faurecia, Bertrandt and Magna.
• Report out daily program status to senior managers via night letters, program steering groups, and KPI presentations, using timing control tools such as 90 day look ahead metrics.
• GPDS, Global Integrator, project gateway and milestone preparation when required.
Prototype Launch - V363MCA & ICA2 19 ¾ Model Year. V362MCA 18 ½ Model Year - Lead Launch Analyst.
• Extensive travel to Kocaeli Manufacturing Plant in Turkey, and Niehl New Model Development Centre, Cologne, Germany to support X1, M1, VP, TT, PP & MP1 prototype builds.
• Delivering high level program support to a major redesign of all Ford Transit variants across Europe.
• Integral to the onsite prototype launch support of a £1bn program Ieading a team of 50+ engineers to build from either ground up or from a donor unit over 500 prototypes vehicles.
• Project scope included the development of new electrical architecture, ADAS and SYNC technology, Electric Vehicles (MHEV - Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles, and PHEV - Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles), 2.0ltr Diesel Panther Engine Launch, Rear Air Suspension, 10R80 Transmission, SVO - Sports Series variants, Power Side Load Door and Power Step technology.
• EoL - End of Line & FCPA - Ford Consumer Product Audit issue control, fault finding and resolution.
• DPA/UNV0/UPV0, launch readiness and tracking.
Change Management.
• RAID Log. AIMS (Automotive Issue Management System) - Ford of Europe Risk/Issues Champion.
Leading project issue resolution across design, supplier quality and manufacturing teams. Leading program engineering teams to understand issues and risks using data analysis, root cause analysis, fish bone diagrams and A-B-A tests, ensuring program control is maintained to achieve the required gateways and milestones.
• Budget Control & PCN (Program Change Notices) - Prototype Launch Leader. Leading engineering direction on all change management issues that affect the current program build status, be it parts deletion or addition due to supplier availability, stakeholder requirement deviations and to ensure general project control protocols are maintained.
• WERS - Worldwide Engineering Release System. Parts release tracker to assess the status of Concerns and Notices as part of the Global Change Management process. Working with Design & Release engineers to ensure all S4P codes (timing codes) adhere to parts availability timing requirements.
Logistics, Shipping & Supply Chain Management.
• Lock & Load, MRD - Material Request Date - Ford of Europe and Ford North America Champion. Carrying out essential supply chain management of all current production parts, (NTEI) New Tooled End Items, Prototype parts, in-house rapid development parts, bailment and modularity parts, and all required tooling are designed, released, manufactured and delivered to the build site on time for the next build and launch phase of the program. This would involve the data analysis and shipping of over 100,000 unique parts covering all Global Ford Transit variants.
• PPAP/AAR - Appearance Approval & Readiness, Part Pedigree & Craftsmanship - Ford of Europe Champion. Tracking part readiness for prototype launch phases and that the agreed quality, look, feel, appearance and craftsmanship of the parts meet Ford standards, and are fit for production intent saleable units. Work with suppliers against agreed timescales to rectify quality errors and track using an excel tracker to report out the status in the daily AAR meeting.
• BoM - Bill of Material Validation. Work in small Agile groups to ensure all prototype required parts have been successfully validated as correct against CAE/CAD measurements. Track the ordering and shipping of validated parts to global build sites. Load all illustrations into Team Centre as a global engineering resource centre.
• Kitting, Warehousing & Sequencing. Ensure all build kits are delivered to the line side in accordance with the prototype build schedule and all sequenced parts are correctly managed by the manufacturing teams.
• Customs Releasing & Courier Tracking. Working together with the Program Planning team to identify delays in parts shipping, and help to resolve issues with essential parts held in Customs due to paperwork or payment issues. Assess the impact to the build plan and proactively manage the rescheduling of prototype builds in accordance with the engineering test plan.
