UX Researcher (Freelance)
As a UX Researcher at LEGO, you’ll be responsible for running usability testing sessions with children, helping to uncover insights that shape the future of play experiences. We are building a roster of talented researchers who can collaborate with our team on short engagements to support ongoing design and innovation projects.
This is not a remote role; candidates must be based in London and available to work from our office to conduct in-person research sessions.
*Day rate: Dependent on level of experience
*Applications close: April 2025
*Start: March 2025 | Multiple projects throughout 2025.
*Location: London, UK (Hybrid – must be available for in-office usability testing)
*Engagement Length: Short-term (7–10 days per project)
*Requirements: Must have an up-to-date DBS check

What you’ll be doing
• Designing and facilitating usability testing sessions with children, ensuring a comfortable and effective research environment.
• Conducting hands-on testing with interactive toys, observing how children engage with physical and digital play experiences.
• Analysing findings and translating insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Collaborating with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to integrate research into the design process.
• Ensuring ethical research practices, particularly when working with children.
• Presenting findings in an engaging way to internal teams.
What we’re looking for
*Experience: 4+ years in UX research, usability testing, or human-centered design, with a focus on both physical and digital experiences in games, education, or consumer-facing products.
*Research skills: Strong qualitative background, including user interviews, usability testing, and observation methods.
*Communication: Ability to present insights in a compelling way to cross-functional teams.
*Collaboration: Experience working with designers and product teams to influence development decisions.
*Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment with short turnaround times.
*Compliance: A valid DBS check is required for this role due to working with children.
